Hem Me to Him
Thank you, Father, for hemming me in,
Keep me from falling again and again.
I need Your wrath to make me aware,
Some places in life… I must not go ‘there’.
I may kick and scream, like a child I will pout.
But I’m closer to You when the world I’m without.
Keep hemming me in so I’m close to Your side.
Empty me completely of jealousy and pride.
Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
